Wednesday Workshop – Sustaining a Healthy Brain for All Ages

Hello and welcome to Wednesday Workshop. When more than 5 million people in America are living with Alzheimer’s disease, you may be asking yourself what can you do to maintain a healthy brain. Since there is no cure for Alzheimer’s, it’s a good idea to start adopting a healthy lifestyle. Today, were here to give you tips for sustaining a healthy brain for all ages.

  1. Healthy Eating

What you eat fuels your brain and body so make sure it’s something beneficial. Try to incorporate some brain-healthy foods into your diet. Foods for the brain include: leafy greens, nuts, berries, whole grains and certain fish.

  1. Stay Active

It’s important to engage your body in cardiovascular exercise. Physical activity increases blood flow to the brain and body so get up and get out. Even a daily stroll in the park can be very helpful.

  1. Socialize

Isolation and depression play a big role in mental decline so stay connected with friends and family. Other ways to stay social include joining clubs, picking up a new hobby or attending local events.

  1. Train your Brain

Try crossword puzzles, sudoku and/or brain games. These types of games are really good at keeping your brain active and engaged.
