Navigating the World of Your Inner Self – The Self Care Zodiac – Gemini

Question: What do Anne Frank, Michael J. Fox, and Angelina Jolie share in common?  Answer:  They are all Gemini’s and each has made dramatic public statements about facing fear.

Background:  Gemini 20 May – 21 June

Gemini (Gem-en-i.e.) () is the third astrological sign in the Zodiac, originating from the constellation of Gemini. In astrology, Gemini is considered a “masculine”, positive (extrovert) sign. It is also considered an air sign, and is one of four mutable signs.[1]

For the personality traits or factors associated with Gemini, in relation to other zodiac signs, see: Astrological sign, or House (astrology).

If you view the Alzheimer Care Resource Center Wednesday Workshop for May 21, 2013 you will be introduced to ideas regarding how to apply lessons the Gemini personality has to share with caregivers of a person or people with Alzheimer’s.  And now, because of the recent public announcements about Angelina Jolie’s cancer risk and her double mastectomies, it seems we have even more very public content regarding the Gemini personality and facing fear.

Everyone is confronted with facing fears in life.  So even if you are not a Gemini there are lessons to be learned from the Gemini personality.   Gemini’s are known for being curious and interested in researching everything to the max.  I have no idea what I would do were I faced with a 87% chance of getting breast cancer.  I can flippantly say, “I would never take such a radical action as she did.” Yet, at the end of the day I know, because she is a Gemini, she undoubtedly left no stone unturned in her search for answers about what to do.

Because Alzheimer’s is a progressive disease, you, as an Alzheimer’s Caregiver, 100% know the disease you face is going to get progressively worse.  Thus, you can learn from and be inspired by these Gemini famous people to dig in and learn as much as you can so you can make the best care decisions to fit your particular situation.  It is guaranteed that as you research you will learn about some behaviors about which you will be fearful.  Antidotes for coping with this fear might include: adopting Gemini heroes  (i.e. Michael J. Fox took a long time to face his fear but if you see him today he seems to be amazingly accepting of his condition http://www.biography.com/people/michael-j-fox-9542279/videos/michael-j-fox-living-with-parkinsons-2079156267.)

Sometimes facing fear seems to require radical solutions such as Angelina Jolie chose for herself.  We will most likely continue to see stories about her in the next few weeks.  You may want to follow them as a guide to working with your fears.  She could be an inspiration for the idea that you learn as much as you can, you face your fears, and you make the best decision for you and your family.

My Wednesday Workshop on the Alzheimer Care Resource Center channel offers some other very simple actions you can take to help yourself face fears.
