Monday Mojo – How To Relax, Regroup & Reconnect After a Long Day

How To Reconnect after a Long DayGood morning!  Welcome to today’s Monday Mojo.  Do you have a hard time relaxing and regrouping after a long day? Today we are going to give you some great tips that will not only help you to relax, but will help you reconnect with your loved one.

These days, we’ve all become so attached to all of our mobile devices that they actually stop us from relaxing and interacting with those we care about most.  This week, make it a point to put your phone in silent mode for a few hours each night, and resist the urge to check Facebook, emails or surf the net.

Instead use that time to sit with your loved one and read to him or her, or watch a short movie. Although you are together, this can still be an easy way for you  to relax and reconnect.

Preparing a meal and eating together is another great way to reconnect. Leave the TV off and put some soft music on. If your loved one suffers from sundowing, this could help diminish some of his or her anxiety.

Take a hot bathe or shower. Let the worries of the day wash away. Treat yourself to some new lotion – try lavender, which is soothing and calming.  Sit with your loved one and offer to massage their hands and arms with the lotion. It will make them them feel good and will make you feel good too!

Color.  Yep! I said color!  Don’t take yourself too seriously! Get out a coloring  book and crayons and have fun!  Sitting at the kitchen table and just coloring or doodling together can go a long way to help you relax and regroup.  Be sure to hang your artwork on the refrigerator and remember to laugh. It’s a great stress reliever.

And after an hour or two when your loved one is resting, be sure to make time to call a friend.  Our friends help keep us grounded. They provide us with a tremendous amount of support. If you haven’t reached out to your friends recently, make it a priority this week. Reconnect with those that care.

We hope you’ve enjoyed today’s Monday Mojo!  Have a great week!
