Monday Mojo for Caregivers – Ways to Discipline Your Negative Thoughts into Positive Ones

Hello and welcome to Monday Mojo for Caregivers. Negative thinking can be a big problem for family caregivers. Negative energy can quickly build up inside of you and become toxic in your life, ultimately holding you back from the life you want to live. Today, we’re here to give you a few tips on ways to discipline your negative thoughts and turn them into positive ones.

  1. Practice mindfulness

Being mindful is being constantly aware of your thoughts. Start to notice when negative thoughts start to creep in. Once it happens, take a couple deep breaths, relax and try to ease your mind.

  1. Surround yourself with positivity

Vibes and moods are contagious so regularly put yourself in front of positive people. Talk with friends who can put things into perspective and won’t feed into your negative thinking.

  1. Change the tone of your thoughts

For example, instead of thinking, “There’s no way I can get all this done!” Instead, think to yourself, “I may face obstacles but I will come up with a solution to get all this done!”

  1. Create the life you really want

Realize that you can change your thinking if you want to bad enough. You are 100% in control of your life and your attitude. Choose to think positively. Don’t let negativity control you. Take time to read inspirational quotes or affirmations.
