Hello and welcome to Monday Mojo for Caregivers. One famous caregiver named Maria Shriver once said, “Perfectionism doesn’t make you feel perfect. It makes you feel inadequate.” Like many other family caregivers, most of us have feelings of not being enough. No matter who you are, caregiver or not, all we really want at the end of the day is to be happy and feel accepted. This need for acceptance is normal.
We all want to fit in. As a result, we tend to bend and change to what we think others want us to be. This is something that holds you back from being true to yourself and living your best life possible. You shouldn’t change to make others happy, only yourself. Be authentic!
What is perfection anyway? How can one become the perfect caregiver? The perfect daughter or the perfect spouse? There is no finite answer. Your job is not to be perfect. Your job is to be the best version of you possible. Know that you are perfect right now in this moment. You are exactly how you should be.
There is only ever going to be one you. Ever. There is only one you that has ever existed in this entire universe. Right now you are absolutely perfect at being you. No one can think like you, create like you, love like you.
That little secret that you keep hidden? That’s perfectly you. That weird dance you do that makes you feel a little silly? Embrace that like crazy. That’s perfectly you. No one does that but you.
