Monday Mojo for Caregivers – How Journaling Can Improve Your Life

Hello and welcome to Monday Mojo for Caregivers. It doesn’t matter if you’re brand new to journaling or a more experienced writer, exploring your voice through writing is a great way to understand your inner thoughts and feelings. When you begin journaling, you don’t need to dedicate too much time to your new hobby. It’s more about expressing your ideas and emotions than producing content every day. Journaling should be something just for you – something that makes you feel better. You don’t need a particular writing format and there is no right or wrong outcome for personal journaling.

At the start of each morning, take 2-5 minutes to jot down your wishes and goals for the day. It doesn’t have to be something wild, big, or extreme – it should just be short and sweet. For example, you could write something like, I hope I get a nice compliment today or my goal today is to meet up with friends for coffee. Hopefully, this starts your day off on a good note.

As you head to your room to call it a night, close out the day by taking a moment to check in with yourself. Check to see if you accomplished your goal from the morning. If not, that’s okay. Keep it on your list for the next day!

Add short notes about the things that you enjoyed that day. Writing down and acknowledging the things that brought you joy will always improve your mood.

Once you get into the routine of journaling daily, you’ll be able to look back on how much you’ve accomplished. You’ll feel proud and more confident in yourself when you see that you are not only setting goals, but achieving the desired goal.

Journaling is a simple, low-cost way to make our thoughts and goals known to us. That way we can work to improve our lives, little by little. Your journal, after all, is just for you and acts as a space to express your thoughts without editing or pressure.
