Hello and welcome to Monday Mojo for Caregivers. The truth is that change happens everyday. Sometimes, change is a result of our choices, but other times it comes our way unexpectedly. Being able to quickly adapt to change will improve your overall effectiveness and productivity, especially in caregiving. And, building resilience will help you avoid being constantly overwhelmed by changes.

  1. Remember that change is a part of life

You can’t expect things to always be the way they are now.  When it comes to building resilience, flexibility is key! Always look to discover new ways to adapt to the changes that life throws at you, makes you more able to cope with difficult situations.

  1. Maintain a positive mindset

Start treating your failures and setbacks as a learning experience. It will build your inner strength. Avoid seeing a crisis as insurmountable. You may not be able to control the fact that something stressful has happened, but you can control how you react to it. Being optimistic helps at times like these.

  1. Reflect and find meaning in difficulties

When faced with adversity, try to determine some positive ways in which you’ve dealt with the challenge. It’s easy to forget your past moments of resilience, so reflect often. Keep a journal or notebook to jot down your daily “wins”. Look back on your journal when times feel hard.
