Monday Mojo for Caregivers – A Morning Routine That Will Inspire You to Get Out of Bed

Hello and welcome to Monday Mojo for Caregivers. Waking up on the wrong side of the bed is normal. It happens to everyone once in a while. With all that comes with caregiving, it’s understandable that caregivers dread the early morning hours. We’re tired, sluggish and probably a tad grumpy but it doesn’t always have to be like this.

Here are some tips to inspire you to get out of bed and help you have a better morning.

The key to a better morning comes in a two-step process. Begin each day with something positive and relevant that refocuses you and sets the tone for the day.

Step #1 – Find Something Positive

Something positive can be anything that:
• Inspires you
• Motivates you
• Changes your perspective
• Improves your attitude
• Reminds you of your goals
• Puts a smile on your face

It can be something like an uplifting video (Monday Mojo for Caregivers). A favorite music playlist. Maybe it’s a few pages from a book or something as simple as a motivation quote. Whatever it is, don’t try to find time – make the time for positivity every morning.

Step #2 – Make it Relevant

What are you working on right now? What are you going through? What challenges are you facing?

This morning, before I got out of bed, I read a few things on Valentine’s Day party planning ideas. I Googled fun recipes and found some great heart decorations. After only a couple of minutes, I was ready to jump out of bed and start my day.

I didn’t wake up inspired. I woke up determined to have a great day and through the years, I’ve learned that inspiration follows determination. You see the trick here is that you have to actually really WANT to have a good day.

So, I want to challenge you. For the rest of the week, spend 5-10 minutes on yourself in the morning to proactively set the tone for your day. Watch an inspirational video or read a great book while eating breakfast. Listen to beautiful music or a motivational speaker while taking a morning shower. Just do something for you! You don’t need an elaborate morning routine to get started. What matters is proactively choosing to start your day the right way – happy!
