Monday Mojo for Caregivers – 10 Truths That Will Change the Way You Think
Hello and welcome to Monday Mojo for Caregivers.
1. You’ll never really feel ready.
When an opportunity comes along, you’ll probably think you need to feel ready to take action. You don’t! Take action anyways. No one feels 100% about anything when stepping out of their comfort zone.
2. You can’t change other people.
People are complex. People have years of ingrained beliefs and a lifetime of experience that makes them who they are. You’re not going to change any of it. People only change when they decide to change.
3. You only control yourself and your actions.
You can’t change what people think of you. You can’t change what they say about you. You can only control how you react to the situation. Will you choose to let someone’s words hurt you or will you ignore it and walk away with your head held high?
4. View your mistakes as valuable feedback.
Mistakes and failure mean you’re trying. Instead of viewing your mistakes as failures, think of them as valuable feedback on what needs to change in order for real success to happen.
5. The world doesn’t owe you anything.
Prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Never be that person with an inflated sense of entitlement.
6. The best way to share your faith is by living it out.
This one is self-explanatory. Actions speak louder than words.
7. Only spend time with people who build you up.
Your time is limited and your energy is precious. Only spend time with friends who add to your life. Unhealthy friends exhaust you. They complain, feel sorry for themselves and bring everyone else down to their level.
8. Continuously seek wisdom.
Wisdom comes from mistakes, from growth, and from a life dedicated to learning. Knowledge will only help you improve yourself.
9. Parenting is the most rewarding experience in life.
Parenting is a choice you make everyday, to put someone else’s happiness and well-being ahead of your own. Actually, when you think about it, caregiving is very similar and very rewarding as well.
10. Happiness is your choice.
It’s really ALL about the mindset. You are the only one in the way of your own happiness. Yes, there is a lot of negativity in the world but to be happy you have to learn to see past that and focus on everything positive in your life!
